A Perfect Start

—

an ever elusive search to make our beginnings just right

That feeling when you burden something with expectations so big that it never ever is good enough to be out in public. You keep working on it, and one day you are tired, you give up, and the story ends even before it begins.

That’s the story of this place – an online home that I have been trying to build for what seems like forever.

This post is just about that – our pursuit of the impossible, a perfect start. The perfect idea, perfect words, perfect fonts, perfect design, perfect wordcount, something that no one can ever find a fault in, and in that pursuit, we lose our precious moments, days, weeks, years and our entire lives waiting.

Maybe one day we will get there, but in order to get there, we will need to allow ourselves to fail, not once, not twice but multiple times and in that failing and trying, we will stumble our way to perfect – our definition of perfect.

If you are like me, here’s a nudge to bring out that doodle, that painting, that scarf you knitted, those crochet toys, your first attempt at poetry, that charcoal sketch, anything that you have been holding back, because the world needs to hear your stories, experience your expressions, and you never know you might make the world just a little more beautiful, a little happier.

If you needed a sign to start something you always wanted, let this be it. Now that we are already counting down to the start of another year, let’s make a promise to ourselves to keep the promises we make. May we all find the strength and inspiration to start and keep going, for a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step :))
